Outlook Outgoing (Sent) Emails Stuck in the Outbox

Help!

I have been on chats and calls with Microsoft Technical Support regarding a Excel feature problem (Excel Preview Pane not previewing files). The last Mircosoft Rep. had me re-install Windows 11. That did not correct the excel preview pane but added another problem with my Outlook email account.

When I try to send an email it gets stuck in the outbox? Then when I shut down Outlook and try to open it will not open? The only way to open Outlook and get my email to send is to restart my computer? This is very frustrating to me and obviously inconvenient. Please if anyone has a resolution to either of my problems, but most important the Outlook email send problem please help!

Thanks,

Bruce

Hello Bruce,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. I could share with you some of my thoughts on this issue.

From your description, you have already sent your email, because if the send is not successful, it should show that the send was not successful in the Outbox. And in the process, sending the email will become very stuck. Updating Windows 11 has the potential to cause this stuttering. When you send mail, you could first go to Task Manager (type Task Manager directly in the search box) to close some programs, and then choose to send your mail in Outlook. If the problem persists, you could choose to try sending your message in safe mode.

1. Right-click the Start button (lower-left corner) in Windows and click Run.

Alternatively, you can press the Windows logo key and the R key on your keyboard.

2. In the Run box, type:

outlook /safe and click OK.

If the problem is resolved, you could try to disable the add-ins.

If the problem is still there, you could choose to fix your Outlook and then see if it works.

Feel free to post back if you need any further assistance.

Best Regard,
