I am suddenly getting "access denied" when I launch outlook (new) this started on 12-3-24 when outlook (new) 1.2024.1126.101 was installed. When it launches it looks like its working until I click on a message and then it give access denied error. If I wait 10-30 seconds the error goes away and works normally. Also not able to delete contacts in people. Getting ready to abandon outlook for something else.

Hello scinmn
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
We are very sorry to hear that you are experiencing these issues with the new Outlook.
Regarding the "click message" you mentioned, can you elaborate on what you mean? Is it a specific unread email, a pop-up new email notification, or a click in another specific location?
In addition, for the "access denied" error, can you provide more detailed error information? If possible, I hope you can share a detailed screenshot, which will help us locate and analyze the problem more accurately.
Have you tried to reconfigure your account? Sometimes abnormal account configuration may cause such access problems. You can reconfigure your account by following the steps below: In Outlook, click "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Manage", then select your account and click "Delete". Then re-add your account and follow the prompts to enter the relevant information to configure it to see if the access denied problem can be solved.
We have already reported the issue you mentioned that contacts cannot be deleted. Our technical team will conduct in-depth research and troubleshooting on this issue as soon as possible, and I will inform you as soon as possible if there is any progress. Please be patient. During this period, if you have other findings or questions, please feel free to give us feedback and we will do our best to help you solve the problem.
Sincere greetings

I'm having the exact same trouble on my mother's computer, except when I go to re-add the account it prompts me to add her Outlook account and the problem returns.
Please fix this.

Dear Customer
Since I cannot reproduce the phenomenon you mentioned in my local environment, I am missing key software data.
Can you click [Help]-[Feedback] in your New Outlook to report the problem to the software developer and upload the log data? This will help to quickly resolve the problem.
Sincere greetings

When I launch outlook (new) it opens normally but as soon as I click on any message in my inbox or any other box whether a new or previously read message it give access denied error. If I wait 10-30 seconds the error goes away and operates normally. I have not tried to reconfigure the account. Another user has reported that it did not work for them. The problem started with update 1.2024.1126.101 so I was hoping the next update will fix whatever problem this is.

experiencing the same issue and it started this morning as well.
Things I have done to mitigate.
Removed and reinstalled the new outlook
tried using mail and calender which works temporarily until MS in the their infinite wisdom forcefully installs the new Outlook which fails.
I have run a complete scan of my PC, no issues.
I have run an offline scan to locate any possible malware
I have changed/updated my passwords
The problem persists and described as others have noted. Within 5 seconds an access denied screen appears, click continue the left nav of email folders refreshes and works as expected.

Dear HHennie
Based on the information collected so far, we recommend that you temporarily manage your emails by accessing the web version of the mailbox through a browser.
Current progress of the problem: Backend technicians are already tracking it, but due to insufficient information collected, they are still investigating and paying attention.
For this reason, we really need your help to solve this problem together. Open the software and click [Help]-[Feedback] to upload the log. Or contact the technicians through the following link, create an investigation ticket, and upload relevant data.
1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
2. In the box below "We'll work for you anytime", type Windows app, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
3. In this section, you need to use a personal Microsoft account
Note: You can only use a personal MSA to sign in, and the company account can't display the correct content. If the account cannot be connected, you can use a different account or create a new account to run;
4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, and click to confirm
5. You can select "Chat with support specialists in web browser" to access the chat window.
Thank you again for your patience and support.
Sincerely,
Forry.F - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

It's not malware. It started happening after the last update with another few choice issues like being unable to connect to my onedrive from outlook. Hoping it will be fixed soon. Annoying.
