Outlook Calendar isn't working well...

When I try to add events to my Windows 11 desktop's Outlook calendar, I am presented with "Something went wrong. We couldn't save you calendar event. Waiting a bit might help. Keep your calendar event open to try again later", and the event isn't saved.

However, if I use another device (such as my iPad), when I add events there, they do show up on the desktop computer, so it would seem that the services are 'talking' to each other, but the desktop won't let me enter events. Does that make sense?

Any help would be great. Oh, and I have tried waiting (as suggested), uninstalling and reinstalling.

Dear RiverSlaney,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

I understand that you can't save events to the New Outlook calendar. Thank you for your efforts and attempts.

 Cause:

Recently, many users have reported the same issue. Based on their feedback, they have experienced issues when using non-Microsoft email accounts. When the third-party email (Gmail/POP/IMAP) is set as the main account for New Outlook, the calendar will trigger an issue where events cannot be added.

In this case, only the main account is unable to add a calendar, while other accounts in the app can be added normally.

Temporary plan:

Add an infrequently used email as the main account. The main account cannot add calendars, but the user can add another email they want to use normally.

The best thing is to add a Microsoft email as the main account (because this way the main account calendar is normal). Of course, we understand that not all users need to create a separate Microsoft account for this issue. So, the suggestion is to temporarily add another infrequently used email to New Outlook as the main account.

In addition, you mentioned that it can be used normally on other devices, so if you are willing, using other devices to use this feature can be a temporary solution.

Problem Progress:

We have gathered and submitted fixes for the issues. You can also provide feedback on this feature request directly from the new Outlook (Help --> Feedback --> Report a Problem).

Thank you very much for your contribution. Sorry for any inconvenience caused to you.

I will share any updates with you if there is progress.

I have Outlook 365 and am not using any third-party apps or programs and I am unable to add new events to my calendar and is been going all day that is been a recurring issue on and off for months. Error message, "we could save your calendar event. Waiting a bit might help. Keep your to try again later" When is Microsoft going to solve this once and for all? FYI, that error message is patronizing and insulting

Dear RiverSlaney,

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

There have been new developments regarding this issue, and Microsoft has received feedback on it and the engineering team is actively working to resolve and fix it.

This is a backend repair issue. Therefore, if the above temporary solution does not work, we suggest that you wait for Microsoft to solve this problem, and I will keep you updated on any progress in the future.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

I have exactly the same problem. I have managed a way round it by using a gmail calendar which adds the entry to Outlook. If it is any help, the problem appeared suddenly overnight between 8th & 9th November. It was working fine when I closed for the day on the 8th but when I opened up on the morning of the 9th the problem was there.

I agree totally - this is a huge inconvenience, and the support team has not been helpful. All I know is that its "broke" and it is being "researched" and will be fixed "someday". Terrible support!! I find lots of issues with Windows 11. I did find that I can enter appointments on my Apple phone (funny how Apple always works) calendar and it duplicates in Outlook calendar. It's the only way the calendar works!!!

Dear RiverSlaney,

Good News!

Microsoft has fixed this issue; you only need to update New Outlook to the latest version 1.2024.1107.100 to use the calendar function normally.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused during this period.
