Outlook 365 and winmail.dat sending in plain text

Outlook 365 home premium is set to send in PLAIN TEXT however no attachments are reaching the recipients (unless they use Outlook) only a winmail.dat attachment.

 

I have to send out many Excel spreadsheets and PDF files which are not getting received or are lost in the winmail.dat file.

 

Microsoft support first level had never heard of winmail.dat which gives me a feeling that my problem is not going to be solved by them.

 

Someone please help.

See Outlook is sending winmail.dat files for the settings to check - and make sure you delete the affected recipients from the autocomplete cache or clear it completely.  If all else fails and you do not use Voting or Assign Tasks, you can set a reg key to block winmail.dat completely.
