Outlook 365 and Telstra servers (Bigpond)

Hi All

Recently I had to change my password for my Telstra (Bigpond) e mail account. Whilst the new password works well accessing my e mails via the Bigpond web portal, Outlook 365 just doesn't talk to Telstra servers. I have quadruple checked my password and all settings and still the problem exists. It would appear this is a generic problem as my wife is in the same boat as there are a number of people on the Telstra community page who also have the same problem.

Can anyone help!! PLEASE!! (and not just for me but for all the others who have the same problem!)

Many, many thanks

Adrian

Hi Adrian,
Where did you change the password in outlook?
Do you get an error message?

Try going through Control panel > Mail or Send & Receive settings - Ctrl+Alt+S - then click Edit, select the account then Account Properties.

Hi Diane

I have tried both through outlook itself and through Control Panel. Both generate the same issue.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

No. The standard box appears to re-enter address and password.

And believe me, I have checked, double checked and quadruple checked the password!!!

Do you know if everyone reporting it in the Telstra forums are using Outlook 2016/2019/365? If they use other mail apps, it's a problem on the Telstra side.

Outlook 2016 and newer all use basically the same code - if it is outlook at fault, the problem may be limited to those versions, not older versions.
