Outlook 2013 ALWAYS Runs as Administrator - How to Disable? Windows 8.1

This problem is driving me nuts! I was having issues with Outlook 2013 months ago and ran the compatibility troubleshooter, which turned on the "Run as administrator" flag on OUTLOOK.EXE. Here's my problem - under Windows 8.1 *NONE* of the Office 2013 executables have a "Compatibility" tab when you right-click and choose "Properties" so now I can't modify this behavior. How can I turn off "Run as administrator" for Outlook 2013? The troubleshooter doesn't give me the ability to do this, and running Outlook in this mode turns off email search indexing and the ability to drag-and-drop file attachments in messages. Argh!

Answer

I too was having this problem, BUT FINALLY I found the solution (and I was so close all along).

Answer found here in the second post: http://superuser.com/questions/547810/how-to-turn-off-always-run-as-administrator-windows-8

  1. Right-Click on the executable
  2. Choose "Troubleshoot compatibility"
  3. Click "Troubleshoot program"
  4. Uncheck any and all checked items
  5. Click "Next"
  6. Choose "No, I have finished investigating the problem - undo any changes made and clear all settings"
  7. Click "Next"
  8. Click "Close the troubleshooter"

Good luck to anyone else who stumbles across this problem.
