Outgoing Messages Being Blocked

I have been made aware that over the past two weeks, an increasing number of messages sent through outlook.com are not being delivered.  Some, but not all, get bounceback messages that state the originating IP address is being blocked (copies posted below.)  I use Outlook.com to aggregate four separate accounts from different ISPs that are used for separate purposes.  From what I can tell, most, if not all of the messages being blocked are ones being originated through my Verizon.net account.  When I re-originate a blocked message directly from Verizon.net, they appear to be completed.  Any insights as to the cause or solutions are greatly appreciated.

Same problem here.  Using Outlook with Verizon email.  Originally thought it was a Verizon "whitelist" issue... but it's outgoing only.

This indicates that the address 157.56.23.12 is incorrectly configued in the domain name service.  It can also mean the sender's domain or the recipient's domain is incorrect and doesn't exist.

What does that mean "incorrectly configured in the domain name service" -- meaning it's something that Verizon needs to fix, or I need to fix with Verizon?  Sorry - need help with the tech-talk.  Thx!

No that's a Hotmail IP - tracert it.  Looks like that mail server is timing out and that's the issue.  Not that I'm an expert.  Guess should just phone up the Microsoft 800 number and let them know; should be easy right ;)

And it's not every message, either.  I can't figure out what the pattern is, if there is one, but it does seem to be consistent with recipient--ie, there are certain addresses that Outlook.com won't send to using my Verizon personality--but plenty that it will.

I find the whole thing very odd since the IP address referenced in the error message is a Microsoft address.  So why is there server blocking mail sent from its own mail service?

No offense, Brian, but not a single thing you said here is true.  "Incorrectly configued in the domain name service" is gobbledygook.  And as we have pointed out, there is no problem with the recipient address information.  The message is not that the recipient doesn't exist, it's that MICROSOFT's mail server is refusing to deliver messages sent by ANOTHER MICROSOFT mail server.

No offense taken, but I was just relaying what the message means.

Brian: After  a week or so of no mail being blocked, I had the same problem again last night, except that this time, outgoing mail to aol.com  was being blocked. (In my original report,  it was outgoing mail addressed to Verizon.net addresses.) After three tries sending the same message from outlook.com, I signed into my Verizon webmail account directly and sent the message without incident.

Other people on this thread are reporting the same symptoms, i.e., apparently unexplainable sporadic incidents where outgoing mail sent through outlook.com is being blocked.

I can't explain what's happening but clearly something is amiss.  I really like outlook.com and don't want to have to uninstall it but these sporadic unexplainable outgoing mail blocks are undermining my confidence in the product.  Maybe you need to raise it as an issue to the outlook,.com product managers?

How can the DNS be incorrectly configured?  And why doesn't Microsoft fix it?
