My Gmail Inbox not showing new emails in Outlook 365

Outlook 365 has been configured to manage my Gmail emails for the last couple of years - without any issues.

Today, it has stopped showing incoming emails in my inbox - I know that new emails have been sent to me - I can see them on my phone, my tablet etc. etc.

However, I *can* successfully send emails from Outlook 365.

Can anyone help?

Hello Dave,

There are several reasons why you can't receive emails from your account when using Outlook on your computer. Did you install the latest Office updates on your computer? If not, we recommend to update your Office and check if that helps and receive emails again.

If your Office is already updated when you got this issue, we would advise that you repair your Outlook app to scan and repair corrupted update files that may affect the functionality of your Outlook.

My version of Office is fully up to date - see version/build at bottom of original post.

I have successfully performed an Account Repair and the problem persists.

Thank you for the reply. Since your Office is updated, it could be possible that you need to re-sync your Gmail account to Outlook to reconnect to the server. You can perform this by removing your Gmail account, then add it again to Outlook. This will help us to determine if new emails will show up after reconnecting your Gmail.

My Gmail account in Outlook 2016, set as IMAP has never shown new mail until I select the Inbox, it doesn't bother me to much as its only a secondary mail account

I'm happy to report that, for the last twenty-four hours, my Outlook 2016 has been behaving correctly and showing new emails as they arrive.

However - this followed no particular action from myself. It did not work for a couple of days. the next day all was OK. Most perplexing!
