Incorrect Display Name and Picture is showing while sending/receiving mail

Hi

How do I change the name that is displayed as associated with my email address? Every time someone sends me an email, and sometimes even when I send people an email, it shows my email address and a wrong name and the associated image. I have already set up my correct name under the profile settings but it hasn't helped at all. Any assistance appreciated!

Regards,

Archit Gupta

Hi Archit,

There is a process that you can change the way your name shows up to the recipients of your email. This is by using an alias on your Microsoft account. An alias use the same inbox, contact list, and account settings as your primary email address.

Based on the information that you've provided, there's a possibility that an alias was created. We suggest that you check this on your account by following the steps below:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft account website.
  2. Select Your info.
  3. Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft. (Please see sample screenshot.)

If your account has aliases created before, you may wish to remove them by performing the steps provided on this link regarding removing an alias. For more information about managing aliases on your Microsoft account, please visit this article.

Feel free to post back for an update and let us know if you need more help.

I have just one Alias set and that is my own name. So this is not the issue, at the same time another image is also showing, and I have set my image only.

So this solution does not helps me.

Hi Archit,

Thank you for providing additional details about your concern. Let's try this workaround:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft account website.
  2. Select Your info.
  3. Under Profile, click Edit name.
  4. Change your current name to a different name. Then, save it.
  5. Change it again to the correct name. Save it.

This process might reset your Microsoft information from the Microsoft servers. Change will be reflected after 24 hours.

Let us know how it goes.
