I need to find the download scanpst.exe for Outlook 2007. Does anyone know where I can download it?

My Outlook pst file is over 3 GB and then became corrupt. I need to find the download scanpst.exe for Outlook 2007. Does anyone know where I can download it? I can't seem to locate it. If I can repair the file with scanpst.exe then I'll delete some of the content and hopefully won't have the same problem. If you have anymore tips on how to prevent the file from becoming corrupt, please share. Thanks!

ScanPST is automatically installed with every version of Outlook - you cannot download it separately.

The following articles provide info as to where to find it but if it's missing, then the way to get it back on your system would be to repair your Office install since it means that somewhere along something happened to the file.

Karl, thanks for your quick reply. I appreciate you taking the time to get back to me.

I checked on my computer using the link you provided and still couldn't locate scanpst.exe. I had done this before I posted my question. I even did a search of my complete hard drive after I checked the location the file was supposed to be and it wasn't there.

After an exhaustive search of the Internet, I was able to locate a fix. So, for anyone else who has this problem, check out this link - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227/en-us. You can click on Fix it at the bottom of the screen. Make certain you chose the appropriate Fix it for your version of Outlook. Fix it downloaded the scanpst.exe onto my machine then repaired the file. I'm back up and running. Thanks goodness.

And don't fall for this scam - <link removed>. The company appears to give you a free fix but to use it, you need to pay $137 or around that amount. Some other user said the fix didn't even work.

Thanks again, Karl.

If your 2007 pst file is in the current format, and not a 2002 format pst there is no size limitation

Properties of Personal Folders>Advance will show if a 2002 format

I assume also that you don't use the Archive options

Ack, I think they changed that link :(

I went there and tried the automatic fix and the manual fix.
Some things ran on my computer but still had not scanpst.exe when I did the search.

You said at the bottom there is a Fix link, can you take a peak at the link again
and tell me if its still there and I am missing it?

Thanks so much
Nancy

I went to the same page. The Fix It tool started and said it had "processed" but then my only options were to "tell us what you think" or "return to Knowledge Base article" or "click to read more about Microsoft Fix It" or Close. None of these options indicated how to start the repair tool. I tried looking in the suggested folders, but it is not there. I tried typing it into the search box, but it is not there. What did this Fix It tool actually do, and how do I get to the repair tool  (scanpst)?

The link contained in the post you responded to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227/en-us

Shows only how to use the scanpst utility

See here for details and location of scanpst http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/usingscanpst.htm
