i got this email from hacker

Hey, m**********@outlook.com

What happened here?

About a few months ago, I gained access to your devices. I started tracking your online activity.
I hacked into your computer and accessed your email: m********@outlook.com. I would like to point out that I was able to log into your email easily.

Your password: *********

Edited for PII. Ida

What's next?

After a week, I had already installed a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) [Learn more about this] in all your devices.
In fact, it was not difficult at all (since you were clicking on malicious links from incoming emails).
It is very simple. This Trojan gives me access to all your devices (e.g. your microphone, webcam, keyboard and etc.)

[1] I uploaded all your information, data, photos, web browsing history to my servers.
[2] I have access to all your messengers, social networks, emails, chat history and contact list.
[3] My virus constantly updates its signature (it is driver-based), so it remains invisible to antivirus programs.

he even sent me my password which i blocked out

Dear Mishaal Fawzaan,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

I understand that you have received an email from a hacker, which is worrying you, and I understand your feelings.

Don't worry, this is a typical phishing email. These emails often exploit people's fears and anxieties to threaten them with the goal of getting the victim to pay a ransom. Here are some suggestions:

1. Don't reply to emails or contact the sender. This lets them know that your email address is valid.

2. Don't pay any ransom. This will only encourage scammers to continue this behavior.

3. Change your email password and make sure it's secure enough to prevent unauthorized access.

4. Run an antivirus and spyware scanner to make sure your device is not infected.

5. If you're concerned, you can report it to your local police or Cybercrime Reporting Center.

Keep in mind that scammers often take advantage of people's fears and anxieties, and they rarely carry out the actions they threaten. Stay calm and take appropriate steps to protect yourself.

Your device may have security risks, in order to improve the security of your account, it is recommended that you replace your device to perform the following operations.

1. You can log out of your account from all locations. If you think someone may have unauthorised access to your account, you can provide protection by logging you out from a trusted device.

Sign in to your Microsoft account, Security > Advanced Security Options > Logout from All Locations

For more information, please refer to the following link: How to sign out of your Microsoft account everywhere - Microsoft Support

2. You can add at least 3 new security messages

Click "Security", select "Advanced Security Options", if possible, add at least 3 new security information, such as mobile phone number, email address, etc. You can check the link: Microsoft Account > Security > Advanced Security Options.

You can view the link: Microsoft account security info & verification codes - Microsoft Support

3. You can turn on double authentication, which uses two different forms of identification: password and contact information (also known as security information). Even if others find your password, they will be forced to stop if they cannot access your security information.

Sign in to your Microsoft account Advanced Security Options, under Additional Security and Dual Authentication, select On or Off, and follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

For more information, see the following link: How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account - Microsoft Supportt

4. You can use the Microsoft Authenticator app, which helps you to sign in to your account with dual authentication. For more information, see the following link: Sign in using Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Support

Additionally, you can generate a recovery code on the Advanced Security Options page, which you can use to quickly retrieve your account in case something goes wrong with it. However, make sure you keep this code and don't lose it. If you accidentally click "Generate new code" again, be sure to save the latest generated code.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Have a great day.

Best Regards,
