How to get Outlook 365 to give me "Sign in with Google Account" dialog?

I've got a fully updated Office 365 subscription and am trying to add a 3rd GMAIL account - when I go to Add Account button I'm provided with an older Account Setup screen (second screenshot) instead of the newer one I was expecting when I setup my first 2 GMAIL accounts over a year ago. This newer setup screen seems to activate the Google settings that allow for Outlook to trigger the "allow Microsoft Apps and Services to Access your Google Account". Why does this older version of account setup keep coming up? I'm on the latest Office 365 build 16.0.17531 (see 3rd screenshot). I've been trying to figure this out for the last 2 hours!

Dear MattMcLelland

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

The first thing you need to confirm is whether you have configured gmail in outlook client or in the control panel as shown below:

In fact, the control panel belongs to the Microsoft system from the early use of the tool, has not been changed, so the appearance of the early configuration interface is still the same.

If you want the latest configuration interface, you can directly open the Outlook client - File - Account Settings - Account Settings - Add. You will see the latest configuration screen.

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

It is hoped that the above recommendations will provide you with help. Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

Best Regards

Thanks for your feedback.

I appreciate your reply, but I'm not sure you understand my question. The Outlook 365 new account setup functionality (which is optimized for setting up GMAIL / Yahoo / iCloud email accounts) is not being invoked when I click "Add Account" - as I have shown in the screenshots. Microsoft's enhanced setup, which is again, not being invoked, is negotiating with these platforms, behind the scenes, to deal with some of the nuanced authentication they each provide.

Dear MattMcLelland

Thanks for the clarification.

After our investigation and careful comparison, we have reproduced your configuration interface.

The first picture you provided is the modern configuration interface of New Outlook, which means that there are two versions of the application, New Outlook and Outlook Classic, on your current computer. The third screenshot you provided is actually the version information of Outlook Classic.

If you need to display the new configuration interface, you can press "win + s", search for "New Outlook", click on the application, click the gear icon in the upper right corner, click Account-Email Account-Add Account in the upper left corner, and you can see this configuration interface.

For Outlook Classic, you can press "win + s" to search, enter "Outlook Classic", click File-Account Settings-Account Settings in the upper left corner to add your gmail account.

New Outlook and Outlook Classic are actually two independent applications, and you can choose to use them according to your personal preferences.

Your understanding is highly appreciated! Hope you are keeping safe and well.

Best Regards
