how to change password in Outlook 2016

On August 21, 2018 I needed to change my Outlook password.  However, the account settings tab only lets me change the IMAP settings.  Microsoft has changed something.  There is no access to POP settings.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulties.

You could try to create a new Outlook profile with the POP settings:

Exit Outlook.
Go to your computer’s Control Panel and select Mail.
Click Show Profiles…
Click Add.
Type a new name for the profile (whatever you wish) and click OK.
Add your account details in the Add Accounts windows.
Select Prompt for a profile to be used in the Mail window if you’d like to switch to your new profile when you restart Outlook.

See if the new profile works

Please let me know I'm happy to try to solve your problem.

I had a similar problem, but I am using IMAP protocols for e-mail accounts.

Had to change my password on the mail server, but was unable to change it in Outlook. Outlook kept saying "there was a problem".

In the end I had to delete the account and add a new one. Only way to enter the settings I need.

Changing account settings doesn't let me enter server settings or a password.

Repair account settings makes it LOOK like it does, but it doesn't.

C'mon, guys, it should be a lot simpler than that. It always used to be simple!

Unbelievable that Microsoft have changed this.  I can't find where to change the password either and have been looking for over 10 minutes.  I am not deleting the profile and adding a new one, its just too much hassle.  Why do they keep screwing things up?

My sentiments entirely.

You can't even SEE current settings!

Automatic settings are alright for some, but there are situations when you need to go manual!

Please Microsoft, give manual settings back!!!!!!

Indeed, it is changed for the worst.

Auto setup did not work either when I deleted my account and set it up fresh.

Normally you would push CHANGE. But that dialog leads to NOWHERE

You can push repair, but that runs an endless loop (just like the automatic account setup)
Bring back the old skool manual setup! This setup fur dummies is programmed poorly and SUCKS big time!

I had the same issue but eventually found that you could bring up the old 'POP and IMAP Account Settings' window which included the password field by selecting File > Account Settings > Manage Profiles [on the drop down] > Email Accounts > [Highlight the email account] > Change.

Yep, works for me too.

Thank you!! What a relief!

But why this complexity, Microsoft?

Never heard of KISS: Keep It Simple, S..... ??

And, come to think of it, why didn't you came up with this answer?? "Let the customers muddle through on their own" right? Strange philosophy!
