How do you add the cox.net email which was transitioned to yahoo to the Microsoft 365 outlook?

My cox.net email was transitioned to yahoo and the outlook account was frozen so I can't send or receive emails. I still have my old emails, calendar, contacts, and folders. Yahoo retained our same email address but gave us a different password. I am unable to add this new account to outlook since it has the same email. We were told we would be able to use this new account on outlook, so please tell me how to add it.

If I delete the current cox.net account on outlook, will I lose all my email, contacts, calendar and folders?

I am able to see the current email on the mail.yahoo.com, but I need to use outlook.

Dear Barbara M 67

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

Before reconfiguring your mailbox, just in case, please make an export backup of all your current mailbox information.

You can refer to the following link.

Export emails, contacts, and calendar items to Outlook using a .pst file - Microsoft Support

After the export is complete, without changing your current Outlook data, we can add a new Outlook profile to configure your new mailbox by following the link below. (Different profiles, data will not affect each other)

Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support

In the new profile you can try to configure your new mailbox and wait for the synchronization to complete to see if all the information is there.

I hope the above information can help you.

Looking forward to your reply.

So I would then be able to import all the data from the old cox.net email address to the new cox.net email address and it would be ready for use?

Right now the old cox.net email address is frozen and unusable to send or receive on outlook.

Thanks!

Dear Barbara M 67

Thanks for the response.

First of all, it is recommended that you store a backup copy of this .pst data to your removable hard disk or cloud before you operate it.

After you remit the old cox.net mailbox data, if this .pst file has a lot of content and your new cox.net mailbox is configured with IMAP, it is recommended that you don't import emails into the new mailbox directly.

If you want to check your old emails, you can choose to open the .pst file in outlook to check your old emails, which will not affect the data in your new mailbox.

Open your old cox.net data file (.pst) :

1. Select File Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File.

2. Select the Outlook Data File (.pst), and then select Open.

3. After opening, there will be an outlook data file on the left side of outlook under the new cox.net you set, so you can view your old cox.net mailbox's email data.

You can refer to the following link:

Open and close Outlook Data Files (.pst) - Microsoft Support

I hope the above information can help you.

Looking forward to your reply.
