I've added a new calendar and shared it with others in my department. They can view the calendar through the link I sent but are unable to see the calendar apart from the link portal. Please advise.

How do others view and accept a shared calendar? They've received the link, but it does not add to their calendar.

Based on your description and according to the request related accept the shared calendar invitation issue.
Kindly note that Microsoft has made major updates with the shared calendars.
Guide: Outlook calendar sharing updates
For Classic outlook for windows
1. Turn on shared calendar updates
· In Outlook, select File >Account Settings >Account Settings. You will see a list of your email accounts.
· Select the Microsoft Exchange account that you use to manage someone else's calendar and choose Change....
· Choose More Settings, followed by the Advanced tab.
· Select the checkbox next to: Turn on shared calendar improvements.
· Close and restart Outlook.
Alternative solution
you can ask your colleagues to follow these steps to add your shared calendar to their list
if they are using
Classic outlook for Windows:
In Calendar, click Home.
· In the Manage Calendars group, click Add Calendar, and then click Open Shared Calendar.
· If you don't see Add Calendar, at the right end of the ribbon, select Add > Open Shared Calendar.
· Type a name in the Name box, or click Name to select a name from the address book.
· The shared calendar appears next to any calendar that is already in the view.
For New Outlook for Windows and OWA Outlook on the web:
In the calendar, select the Home tab.
Below the calendar grid, select Add Calendar.
Select Add from the directory.
In the tab please choose the account and then enter the account name for the shared calendar person --- then click on Add
