Hi Amanda,
The migration of email accounts from hotmail.com to outlook.com should be automatically updated by the system. We can perform the steps below to check if this will change your email account to outlook.com:
1. Go to http://outlook.com. Sign-in with your existing Hotmail account (@hotmail.com, @msn.com, @live.com, etc.). You should now be using the new Outlook.com service.
2. Login to https://outlook.com/ using your Hotmail account. Click on the Gear (Settings) icon and select Options. Expand Mail tab> Accounts > Connected Accounts. Under From Address, click on Change your from address. Once done, click on Save.
Let us know if this will make any difference.
Thank you.

HI there
My hotmail has migrated to outlook, that is not the problem. I'm happy with the migration to outlook. I am still using my hotmail email address to access this outlook account which has been just fine but I'm interested in renaming this email address from a hotmail.com to an outlook.com for this same account. Does that make sense?

Thank you for getting back to us. May we ask how did you know that the Hotmail email has been migrated to Outlook? As what you mentioned, you are still using Hotmail email address. When the account is fully migrated from Hotmail to Outlook, it should follow and use the latest email domain.
We will be waiting for your response.
Thank you.

Hi there.
I`m assuming it has been migrated to outlook because it says outlook mail on the top. So this is not a full migration yet?
Also when and if the email address does change over to outlook.com I want to also change the first part of the email not just the @hotmail.com I want to change the whole thing.
Please advise me how I can rename my entire email address but keep the same account.
Thank you

The Outlook Mail that you can see on top is just the default identification for the email account. If you can see your account with outlook.com domain, it means that your account has been migrated fully. It will show as the email address when you click your name on the upper right corner of the Outlook.com page.
To answer your other concern, when your old email address doesn't suit you anymore but you want to save your contacts, online storage, subscriptions, and settings etc. then you can add an alias to your existing Microsoft account. An alias is another email address that works with the same account. To process this, please follow the steps below:
1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ and sign in to your account.
2. Click on Manage your sign-in email or phone number.
3. Select Add email.
4. Follow the instructions to set up and verify your new alias or create a new Outlook.com email, or add any address that isn't already a Microsoft account.
If you still have other concerns, feel free to message us again.
Thank you.
