How do I change my display name for iCloud email account?

I cannot seem to figure out why my iCloud accounts now are showing as the email address for the display name when sending emails. This seemed to start happening with the addition of profiles, as I didn't have this issue previously. When I go into settings; accounts... there is no option for more options. I have also tried to sign out and sign back in but there is no option in the add account process to name the account or enter a display name.

My default account is an exchange account. In addition to that account, I have two @me.com accounts and one gmail account. The Gmail account has no issues but both @me.com accounts have the same issue.

Thank you for the quick reply, Prakash.

I followed the steps above you suggested and no difference. After adding the account again, there are no options to change the name.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. The screenshot I sent is from Outlook for Mac version 16.72.2

I checked Settings > iCloud > Mail and the name is correct - showing my name, not email address.

The issue seems to be squarely with Outlook. I can log into my iCloud account on a browser and send email from the same account and it sends my name as sender (not my email address). This was not an issue until the last few weeks.

The account was added as Microsoft sync technology. If you want calendar & contacts to sync, remove the account and when asked about deleting it everywhere, say yes. then add it back.

If you don't need the calendar & contact syncing, when you add the account back, click not iCloud in the upper right then choose IMAP - make sure you have the ' use Microsoft sync' slider off. That should let you edit the display name.

I do want calendar and contact syncing - I want to use Outlook as my go-to app for all email, calendar and contacts across all my accounts. It has worked great until just recently. I'm guessing there was a change made to the Microsoft sync and how it interacts with iCloud servers?

I've deleted the account from everywhere and then set up the account again. Nothing has changed. It is populating the name automatically with the email address and does not give the option to change it within Outlook.

To be clear, if I send an email from iCloud on a browser, or from the native Apple Mail app there are zero issues. This is only happening within Outlook.

<<

Yes, they changed something with the sync and its not pulling in the display name. It's not iCloud specific - I have it with Gmail too.

>>

<<
Its because the sync process connects to your mailbox and loads it in the Microsoft servers so you have the Microsoft Exchange experience with non-Microsoft accounts. Outlook (and mobile devices) all sync with this. This is why Sent items dont sync back to the server from Outlook if the server does not save copies of all mail sent through it.

<<
That is because the message is not passing through the Microsoft servers first.
