GMail and Outlook

Kindly advise.

I need to make sure that whenever I open my GMail using Outlook, it will ask for a password.

How to do this? I attempted to do this for IMAP but it is not working, it prompts for a password but it does not accept the password I supplied notwithstanding it is correct.

Regards,

Rhai

Hi Rhai,

My name is Gleicel, an Independent Advisor and Outlook user just like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

Can you confirm if are using a laptop when accessing your gmail account via Outlook? If so, close Outlook Client (it is an application installed on your PC) kindly type “Credential Manager” and hit Enter. Delete all accounts related to windows from Web and Windows Credentials. Once done, relaunch Outlook and check if you can now enter your password.

If you are using browser, clear browsing history and try signing in again.

Please let me know if it works.

Regards,
Gleicel

I don't have any windows account stored in the credentials. There are accounts there but I don't think they are relevant to the discussion. They are set by the system. I don't want to just delete them. I don't know which applications will be impacted.

Are you using 2 factor authentication with Google? If yes, then you need to use an Application Password for Outlook.
