Emails to btinternet.com accounts not being delivered

am using a hotmail.co.uk account. Since the 15th July all emails I send to @btinternet.com fail and I get the following message:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

*** Email address is removed for privacy ***

(I have removed the exact email address for privacy.)

This happens if I reply or send a new email to them, and if I send it to one person or that person is part of a group.  It happens with or without an attachment.

I have contacted BT via their online chat (an extremely annoying experience!)  and they say it's not a problem at their end.

Please help, I have to send important emails to these people on a daily basis.

Thanks

BPC

Following an update last night, emails that I send to btinternet addresses from my Outlook email do not go - I get:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

*** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Emails to other addresses are delivered normally.  I can send btinternet emails from my other email account on the same computer. Anyone got any ideas what I can do to fix this? thank you

Post the complete text, including Internet headers, for one of the non-delivery reports.

If you view the source of the non-delivery report like we suggested above, does it, too, say "Message rejected for policy reasons (3.2.1.1) - Please report any problems to BT"? If so, the BT person you spoke to doesn't know what he was talking about.

The same thing happened to me on 17th July, with a hotmail.co.uk account, sending several emails to a btinternet.com address.  I am using a new Outlook account for this reply and with that I can send emails to the same address that the hotmail account cannot.

Until 16th July everything was working fine.  I have been able to send emails to any other mail providers, but not btinternet.com addresses, using the hotmail.co.uk account.  I can still receive emails from the btinternet, com address, but I cannot reply to those emails.

The hotmail postmaster notification can take a few seconds or up to 5 minutes to come back, but it always just informs me that delivery to the following recipients failed.  I gave up on BT as an ISP before broadband and also gave up on my current ISP email system years ago, due to major unreliability issues, but I have not previously experienced this level of stupidity contacting an email address I have been communicating with for many years.

It appears from the collective wisdom in the other replies and comments here that the problem is with BT, but given that there are many other forums like this reporting similar issues reaching btinternet.com addresses, going back over many years, it doesn't look like BT are learning from their mistakes.

Thanks Paul,

Thankfully it is working again this morning.  I contacted BT and Microsoft about the fault so it appears one of them sorted it out, but I'm not sure which one!

It did seem to get sorted out after I emailed *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (found in the message source)  If that is of any help.
