Double contacts in the iOS Outlook app

I am trying to use the Outlook app on an iPhone 5s and an iPad 4 for my Outlook.com email address. I noticed the iPhone and iPad Outlook app both show double contact entries for some, but not all, contacts. Both the Windows 10 People app and if I open People by going to my OneDrive account do not show double contact entries. I am at a loss as to what is happening.

I have uninstalled the iOS Outlook app on both the iPhone and the iPad then reinstalled but the problem persists. I see no way to delete or cleanup double entries using the iOS Outlook app.

Please note I use the same Microsoft ID for my Windows 10 Pro laptop and the Outlook.com account.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated...

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

This issue normally occurs due to bad caches and bad settings after the update. As an initial troubleshooting, you need to clear your mobile cache, reinstall the new email app (make sure to turn off the automatic update), and reconfigure your account. Refer to the link below for more information:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/outlook/to-go

If your email app supports Exchange ActiveSync and you need to configure it manually, use the following settings:

  1. Server address: s.outlook.com

  2. Domain: <leave empty>

  3. User name: Your email address

  4. Password: Your password

  5. TLS/SSL encryption required: Yes

Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response. Unfortunetly that did not work. The iOS Outlook app on both the iPhone and iPad still show double entries. Bottom line I am giving up on using the iOS Outlook app.

Thanks again for the response...

Hi,

Is it showing double entries when you login through the Web Browser?

If it is not showing on the Web Browser as well then it could be an issue with your iPhone.

No only showing double entries on the iPhone and iPad. Its too bad because I liked the app but can't handle multiple double entries for some contacts...

Hi I am suffering multiple contact entries too. I have a theory....... If you are running multiple email accounts, which have overlapping address books then I think this is the cause of the partial contact duplications.

With calendar syncing you can turn calendars off from various accounts, but there is no such feature to control contact syncing.

Let me know if you are successful.
