Does (.) dot matters (used as a differentiator) in Outlook, live and hotmail email alias.

Like in Gmail If someone accidentally adds dots to your address when emailing you, you'll still get that email. For example, if your email is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, you own all dotted versions of your address:

  • *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

  • *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

  • *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Adding dots doesn't change your address, so dots aren't why you got someone else's mail. Instead, the sender probably mistyped or forgot the correct address.

For example, if someone meant to email *** Email address is removed for privacy *** but typed *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, the message went to you because you own *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.

DO outlook, live, hotmail email alias has same feature ????

Hello Manish S Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today. First, any email addresses included in a post are removed for security reasons so no one can see what email address was entered on your post making it impossible to follow the examples you have incuded Adding a dot in the username of any email address makes it a completely different email address whether or not it is an alias email address. For example krtimmermans @ wherever kr.timmermans @ wherever k.r.timmermans @ wherever Are 3 completely separate email addresses which can be owned by 3 different individuals. No one owns any email address merely because there is a dot contained in the username. *** the same rule applies if a hyphen or underscore is used in a username. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, we're here to help you further if needed.
