Delete folder in hotmail

I am quite conversant in using hotmail as I have used it for years. I have also done the function repeatedly that  I am having a problem now.

Deleting folders in hotmail (mail.live.com)

So I deleted all contents of a folder. I then do a right click on the empty folder and choose delete folder. The empty folder then lands on Trash. No problem deleting contents that are in Trash.  The empty folders appear under Trash. I then right click on the empty folders and choose delete. They disppear from Trash.

But after a while, those same empty folders reappear in Trash.

I tried it in the beta version of hotmail. Same issue.

I even created a new empty folder and went through cycle of deleting it.  Same new folder could not be deleted from Trash.

Am using Windows 7.

I am asking Microsoft to please fix this bug.  It used to be so super easy to delete a folder.

Hi,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Now, to isolate this issue on your email, particularly with the email folders, may we know if you've tried other browsers, sign in to your email account and tried deleting a certain folder? Also, have you tried signing in to your email on other computer?

Regards.

I have the exact same issue!!!

All the suggested fixes do not work.

This is obviously a bug, as so many people have reported the same issue.

No I never signed in using other browsers. I only use my laptop which has latest Internet Explorer and my iPad.  So this has been an issue the last week. I must have deleted those same folders like 10x.

Then today the issue is gone. Finally the deleted folders are truly deleted. I hope. Although other people responded to my posting saying they are having the same issues.

Hope this helps.

It is interesting that you are not able to rename your folders.

I created a new folder a few days ago, but when I tried to delete it today, I was unable to do so.  When I right-click on the folder, the option to delete, rename, or move it has been greyed out.  All of my other folders that I have created in the past are functioning normally.

Just to see what would happen, I created a new folder with the intention of deleting it, and it deleted with no problem.  It's almost as if the folder I'm unable to delete is being treated like one of the default folders, such as "Inbox" or "Sent Items".

I've tried to delete this particular folder in the Beta version, on two different computers, and in two different browsers, all with no success.  The folder is empty, and I can successfully add and delete files, but I cannot delete the folder itself.  The folder will also not allow me to drag it to the trash folder or any other folder.

I use Windows 8.1.

Microsoft -- any ideas as to what may be going on here?
