In Outlook, when I create a new folder, the default order of the emails added to that folder is oldest on top, newest at bottom. I would like to change the default to be newest on top, oldest at bottom. How do I do that for all newly created folders? I'm able to change it once the folder is created, but I would prefer to have the default sort order be correct when creating the folder.

Dear Joanne Petersen 1,
Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
Based on your description, I understand that you have a query "Create Outlook folder with email sort default = newest on top."
To change the default sort order for all newly created folders in Outlook, Open Outlook and click on the "File" tab in the top left corner > Click on "Options" in the left-hand menu > In the Outlook Options window, click on "Mail" in the left-hand menu > Scroll down to the "Other" section and click on "Conversation Clean Up" > Click on the "Conversation Settings" button > In the "Conversation Settings" window, select the "Newest on top" option under the "Show newest messages on top" section > Click "OK" to save the changes and close the window > Close the Outlook Options window.
Now, when you create a new folder in Outlook, the default sort order for emails added to that folder should be newest on top.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation.

instructions you sent:
To change the default sort order for all newly created folders in Outlook, Open Outlook and click on the "File" tab in the top left corner > Click on "Options" in the left-hand menu > In the Outlook Options window, click on "Mail" in the left-hand menu > Scroll down to the "Other" section and click on "Conversation Clean Up" > Click on the "Conversation Settings" button > In the "Conversation Settings" window, select the "Newest on top" option under the "Show newest messages on top" section > Click "OK" to save the changes and close the window > Close the Outlook Options window.
I don't seem to have "Conversation Clean Up" under "Other". It appears as a separate section under "Mail" but that section doesn't have a "Conversation Settings" button nor "Newest on top" as an option.
I'm on Outlook for MS 365 MSO (Version 2302 Build 16.0.16130.20684) 64-bit.

Dear Joanne Petersen 1,
Many thanks for the response.
It seems by default if create a new folder it sorts emails by "Newest on top" and arrange by "Date", I tried to check on my end to see if there is any way to change this so that when creating new folder, emails can be sorted in different way, however, seems there is no other settings. Could you please let me know how emails are sorted in other folders?
Your cooperation and understanding are much appreciated.

My previously created folders are "newest on top" -- it's only the newly created folders that have oldest on top -- the default is no longer "newest on top" but it used to be! I don't know what changed -- I did not make a change to have "oldest on top" be the default. When I click on the "By Date" filter, it shows Oldest on Top; I changed it to "Newest on Top" but that only works for the one folder I have opened, not any future folders I create.
