blocked version of Outlook

I used to be able to download my emails onto my computer but now am getting the message "Your Microsoft Exchange administration has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using". Presumably I just need to upgrade to the next version or is there another way around it? And if i need to upgrade is there a link that i can do this for free?

Hi, my name is Neil, and I'm an Outlook user like you.

I'll be happy to answer your question.

This is correct, according to this article: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsof...

Outlook 2007 and 2010 are incompatible with the following upcoming service changes, which is prompting this controlled block on these older versions of Outlook.

Users can immediately start using Outlook on the web through a browser or they can get a 1 month free trial of Microsoft 365 Apps for business here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/b...

I hope this answers your question.

Kindest regards,

Neil

Thank you very much Neil; really appreciate you taking the time to reply and supplying the links. Gee, the app isnt cheap just to get desktop Outlook ($14.80 a month which adds up over time)!

Hi Kerrie,

Just checking, but are you are private customer (home user) or is your Office on a business package?

The reason why I ask is that here are the prices for a home user: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/b...

Even the Microsoft 365 Family is only $99.99 for a year and you can install the full Office package on 6 different computers.

The business packages can be compared here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/b...

I hope this helps!

Kindest regards,

Neil

Hi Kerrie,

Yes it will. You can use your subscription on PC, Mac and tablets.

Here it was Microsoft says "With Microsoft 365 subscription plans you get the fully installed Office apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, and Access (Publisher and Access are available on PC only). The OneNote app is included in Windows 10 and is available for free on Mac.

The Publisher and Access apps are not available for Mac. Current Office app versions for Microsoft 365 and Office 2016 are available for both Windows and Mac."

I hope this answers your question.

Kindest regards,

Neil
