AOL POP & IMAP Settings-I'm not getting email again!

I have Microsoft 365 & have used Outlook with AOL of years.  When my subscription is paid & renewed I lose my email settings, it's so frustrating!!!!  This happened last year too. I'm a computer idiot & everything I have tried is not working.  Every 30 seconds I get a pop up that says my email info isn't current.  I have tried entering the POP/IMAP/SMTP info that I had from last year with no luck.

Anyone know how to correctly enter AOL incoming POP3 Mail Configuraton?

Thanks in advance

I just renewed ONE BIG FAT HEADACHE!

Hello LauraOverlin

There are a couple of things in your post

<<

Simply renewing Office would never impact any existing settings. Outlook would just continue on using the new license. There would be nothing to change, uninstall or re-install so that begs the question, what all occurred when the subscription was renewed?

There is one very important item when it comes to an AOL account and that is that it requires the use of an <App Password> as the password to be entered as the Outlook password.

In answer to your question about settings - those are contained in the following article - have also included other articles that may be of use to complete the process

Use POP or IMAP to sync AOL Mail on a third-party app or download your email

Strange how Auto-payment was made & the next day I can't open emails.

use of an <App Password> as the password    Create and manage third-party app passwords

Checked my account, I do not have this feature ON.

Use POP or IMAP to sync AOL Mail on a third-party app or download your emailI've tried these settings & they are not syncing.

when I open Outlook, every 10 seconds I get this pop up.

After I enter the server settings Outlook changes the settings & I get an error message.  I enter pop.aol.com & smtp.aol.com with the port numbers & get an error message. Sometimes it says the process was interrupted, I'm guessing from the above pop up warning.

Everything was running well, I never changed anything. Why did this happen?

It's not a case of having 2 factor authentication enabled - for Outlook, an <App Password> is required whether or not 2FA is explicitly enabled. The same is true of Yahoo accounts etc as described in the Microsoft article under the section

<<Outlook won't accept my password>>

The solution for this problem is to create a "new" password from the aol site.

1. Log in to AOL email on browser.

2. Go to account and select account settings.

3. At the bottom, there is an option to generate an "app password" Select the system you are using (Outlook) and copy the password into you password field on the login for Outlook.

4. That should let you log in permanently.

Hope this helps!

I followed your instructions to generate an app password. I still get this error message saying "At this time your email, calendar, and contacts account can't be added. Please try again later: I'm using my blackberry passport phone. I had to download and use Gmail instead.
