Hello,
I am using Outlook 2016 as part of Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus.
Office verion: 16.0.6965.2117
Outlook version: 16.0.6925.1049 (32-bit)
I have been heavily using the "Advanced find" features by typing query strings such as "from:anna has:attachment" in the search field.
This stopped working for me a few weeks ago. Since then I only get "We couldn't find what you were looking for":
I get the same results, if I use the Advanced find panel, instead of typing my query in the search field:
Note, that there are multiple e-mails from Anna in my inbox.
If I only type "Anna" in the search field, I get results (but of course this will match any mail including Anna anywhere):
Just to be clear, this is not only the case when searching with "from:". The Advanced find is not working at all.
Here's what I have tried so far:
- Restarted Outlook and the PC.
- Stopped and restarted the service Windows Search (while Outlook was not running) and confirmed that the service is started automatically
- Confirmed that Outlook is included in the list of items to be indexed by Windows. (Windows Indexing Options)
- Rebuilt the Windows search index and then waited for Outlook to complete re-indexing my mail (I followed the Indexing status in Outlook > Search Tools)
Outlook took very short time to re-index my 150.000+ items (only a few minutes), so I got suspicious that the .ost file is corrupt.
- Used SCANPST to scan and fix the .ost file (which is roughly 10 GB, btw).
- Deleted the whole .ost file (while Outlook not running), then waited for Outlook to re-download all mails from the Exchange server
None of this solved the problem.
Does anyone have any more idea what I could try?
Thank you for your help,
Tibor
