"Shorten link" option no longer available on OneDrive

With the latest update, the "shorten link" function is no longer available when sharing a view or editing link on OneDrive. This is a disaster, MS! In the name of "simplification", MS makes their users' lives more complicated and shoots OneDrive in the foot. The standard OneDrive links are far too long to share properly over email (many email servers wrap the link and it becomes un-clickable), and let's not even get started on sharing a link over WhatsApp or tweeting a link....

What is MS thinking? Clearly it no longer wants to stay in the race against DropBox et al.

Hi Jay,

We're sorry for the inconvenience.

As informed by "stanimal21" in the previous reply, the team is working on this. You may check the blog(https://blog.onedrive.com/a-simpler-sharing-experience-at-onedrive-com/ ) mentioned by him.

Though, as a work around, you may left click on the file and open it, once it gets opened in the new tab, then select the "Share" option on the top-right corner of the screen and check if it gives you the option to shorten the link.

Regards,
