OneDrive - Version History - missing, blank view

Hi,

version history view has been missing, shows up blank for over a week now. (Have tried to view/get to it on different web browsers (Chrome, Edge) on different connections.) Is there any way to get it back working?

Hey there, JoosepS

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.

Please can you try viewing the documents on your PC and seeing if the Version History is available?

Hi,

where is it possible to view Onedrive file Version History locally on my PC?

File properties "Previous Versions" has always been empty. (Using Windows 10 and "Office 365 Personal".)

Version History used to be available/usable online on onedrive.live.com

Best regards,

I have the same problem... It's been 10 days, could someone from Microsoft please acknowledge this?

This is disconcerting. File versioning is a critical feature for data conscious users. I am currently in the middle of a huge data migration from Dropbox to OneDrive and the resilience of this feature is of the utmost importance to me. Some idea of the status of this issue would be very helpful.

As that pane indicates, those versions only come from File History and restore points. If you include that location in a library that is included in File History, a previous version will appear. It'll take a bit of research to get it working. The previous versions will only be stored locally.

I have to admit (sadly) that this feature is not reliable, though it could offer great value for OneDrive users. Around one-and-half month ago I had an issue with missing Modified dates, on which I posted in another thread. Now it is the complete history.

For the moment I would not rely on this feature too much, but I am certain at one point in time Microsoft is going to resolve this. Until, then I am going to stick to classic copy-paste, which is not elegant as File Versioning, but it certainly works.

Hi,

"that pane" was a reply to Nathan R. comment: "try viewing the documents on your PC and seeing if the Version History is available?" -- two different versioning systems, one local, the other - problematic one - on online/cloud.

onedrive.com online view used to show version history and allow to restore previous versions of files.

Maybe this is not the right forum to post problems?

Or is this failing feature somehow related to the new business restore

It is a feature that I and others have paid for. So it would be nice to have at least some feedback to why this is not working (for weeks) and if the problem is being looked into.

Below is a response I received today from a MSFT rep regarding the issue.

"Hi Natahan,

This is a temporary outage where users are unable to view the version history of a file other than Office files and has been reported by quite a number of users.

We are trying to get a fix for this issue, but it will be hard to come up with an ETA as of now.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused and also appreciate for reporting about it. The count matters.

Thanks,
P R Deepak"
