OneDrive app for Android: Repeated 'Sign-in error for <email address>' notification

I keep getting the OneDrive app error notification 'Sign-in error for <my email address> ' on my Android phone, even though several times I've tapped it and it's taken me to the app to put my password in. It happens sporadically. How can I stop it doing that?

Hi,

We understand how you feel about the situation. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused.

A quick question before we proceed.

What is the complete sign in error you  receive?

Let's reset OneNote app for Android following steps mentioned below, then try starting the Excel app and verify whether issue re-occurs.

1. Close all the Office apps.
2. Go to iPhone Settings.
3. In Settings, tap to select OneNote app for Android.
4. Under RESET, tap Reset <app name>.
5. Slide to enable Delete Login Credentials.
6. Start the OneNote app, sign into your account and verify if whether issue re-occurs.

Hope it helps. Keep us posted on the status of the issue and we will be glad to offer our assistance.

Thank you.

David,

Sorry it's the OneDrive app on Android, not OneNote.

The sign in message is as I said 'Sign in error for <my email address>'. Where I've put <my email address>, that's my email address.

In Settings > Apps > OneDrive the only options are 'Force stop', 'Uninstall', 'Disable', 'Clear cache' and 'Clear data'. There's no options to reset login credentials.

However I found in Settings > Accounts > OneDrive that sync wasn't turned on, so I've turned that on, could that have been a cause? I got the message pop up today but that was before I turned sync on.

Arvind,

It's Katherine - David was the first person to reply.

Turning on sync didn't prompt me to log in - it's only when I keep getting these repeated error notifications.

Hi Katherine,

Thank you for your prompt response.

When you say "Turning on sync didn't prompt me to log in - it's only when I keep getting these repeated error notifications", do you mean that turning on the Sync allows you to sign into OneDrive without the error notifications?

As a work around, I suggest you to Uninstall OneDrive. Go to Settings>Accounts and remove the Microsoft account among the list. Restart the phone. Go back to Settings>Accounts and add the account. Re-install OneDrive from Play Store. Check if the issue persists.

Hope it helps.

Arvind,

Turning on sync has not brought up any further error notifications, but I only did that 2 days ago and as they have been coming up sporadically (probably an average of about twice a week) I don't know if turning it on has been the solution.

I have now just uninstalled OneDrive and restarted the phone. In Settings > Accounts there wasn't an option to re-add a Microsoft account but I re-downloaded OneDrive from the Play store, loaded the app, it prompted me to sign in which I did. I re-checked Settings > Accounts and OneDrive was now there though sync was again off so I've turned that back on again.

Let's see what happens, I'll post again if the message re-appears.

Katherine
