OneDrive Starts Itself even after I close the application

I have OneDrive setup to open up automatically when I start computer, but I close it afterwards. However, lately the application keeps opening itself when I open OneNote and recently just opening up without asking it to. I tried to look for help online but couldn't find anything for windows 10. How do I make it stop? (I know about disabling startup, that is not the issue I want that to be active)

Thanks.

Dear Microsoft,

is there any solution coming? It seems that i am by far not the only one, who is suffering from  onedrive. Can you at least post a manual how to remove onedrive from windows 10 completely?

best regards,

habet

Hi

Fix for systems upgraded to Win 10

Had this issue too. Contacted support, their suggestions did not work.

Start automatically unchecked...

Disabled Onedrive in Task Manager-Startup.

Still started randomly

I figured it out

Problem specific to  situation: “Win 8 (or other) system that had Onedrive installed as stand alone program, then upgraded to Windows 10 (with Onedrive baked in)"

Screw-up comes during upgrade to Windows 10: “Onedrive is not uninstalled cleanly during upgrade”

(If you did not upgrade, this is NOT your solution)
A Task Left behind in “Task Scheduler” (NOT MANAGER) : “Microsoft OneDrive Auto Update Task-S-x-x-xx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxx” action: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /autoupdate”

Which is old task from stand alone Onedrive in previous OS ("Everything will be right where you left it..." Ha!).

(If old task is not there this is NOT your solution)

Disabled task, and voila! Onedrive only starts when I ask it to.

PS  Do not delete other (Win 10) Onedrive task :“OneDrive Standalone Update Task” action:C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\17.3.6517.0809\OneDriveStandaloneUpdater.exe
