I am not wanting to know the specific location, just the country.  The Law here prohibits certain information from being stored in other countries, if there is no server in our country we cannot use One Drive to store this information.  Dropbox have, without hesitation, advised the country of location of their server.

Hi,

We're sorry to say that we cannot reveal any information with regards to server's location. I would like to inform you that Microsoft service doesn't violate any regional law and it is mentioned in the EULA(End User License Agreement) which you accept in the initial setup.

Regards,

hi,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

Regional law refers to the region where you're located. Microsoft respects the region's law wherever you use and accept the EULA and it doesn't violate that region's law.

So to be clear you are saying trust us you have checked the local country laws on where files must be located and you are confirming you meet all countries local laws.

That is a great confirmation to hear.

Our law states that "certain personally identifiable information must be stored in New Zealand, and not at a offshore location, as with some cloud providers"  So as per your response you have a server in New Zealand and when I save data to the cloud it is ultimately not storing any data offshore i.e outside of New Zealand.

This is a terrible answer. As a MS Employee you make no reference to this : http://o365datacentermap.azurewebsites.net/

Clearly your response is one that was not conferred with your peers or in the proper channel. Why bother replying?

I would like to know this.

UK law firms need to be careful and comply with regulations. I'm looking for cloud based sharing with UK/ROI servers.

Clearly Microsoft can't help based on the above conversation.
