It will depend on the version of Word you have. You can specify this by clicking Edit on your post and changing the "Applies to" setting. In most versions, however, if an AutoRecovery backup exists, Word will present it to you when you first restart Word;
if you had never saved the document, it will be presented as Document1, Document2, etc. More recent versions are more sophisticated about saving versions while they are crashing, and Word 2010 (by default) saves a version of unsaved documents even if you don't
choose to.
