If you are downloading from the internet, you need to make sure you are not running the "Click2Run" version. It is not presently compatible with Consumer Preview. You will need to use the MSI based installer.

STEP 2 -

Download and install the MSI file Note You will be able to download the full retail MSI file online ONLY if you purchased Office 2010 online and provided a Windows Live ID.

  1. Access your account by using your Windows Live ID credentials ( .
  2. If you are already logged in, you will have to click My Account on the upper-right corner of the screen. If you were not logged in, enter your Windows Live ID credentials.
Important You must enter the same Windows Live ID that you used when you purchased Office 2010 online.

  3. After you have logged in, find the Office 2010 edition you purchased, and then click Download.
