Missing Calendar Control

I am using Office 2010 in advance of roll-out in our organization. I have
been testing some of our VBA enabled templates for compatibility and have
run into a problem. Specifically a lose of the Calendar control. Since we
have a number of Userforms that use the calendar control, I need to come up
with some sort of replacement. Any suggestions? I thought there was a date
picker control, but I can not find it (I have installed the complete Office
2010 Professional Plus)

Thanks for that, Graham. It does work, after some fiddling about.

  1. Unzip the Word 2003/2007 version of mscal.ocx into C:\Windows\SysWow64 instead of C:\Windows\System32. Don't bother with mscal.hlp, since *.hlp files won't run in Windows Vista or Windows 7 unless you also download the WinHelp engine (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607/en-us ).
  2. On the Start menu, right-click the Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator. An ordinary command prompt or Run box doesn't have the permissions needed to do the registration of the ocx.
  3. At the command line, enter these two commands:

               cd \windows\syswow64

               regsvr32 mscal.ocx

That will register the calendar tool. When you go into Word 2010 and start a userform, right-click the toolbox and choose Additional Controls. The calendar will be listed as "Calendar Control 11.0", and it does work.
