OneNote iPhone and iPad apps failing to sync; error 0xA000002.

The OneNote app fails to sync. The message returned is Sync failed. Retry later. (0xA0000002).

Copying sections to new sections is not a solution--it's a work around.

I sync between my iPhone, iPad and OneNote 2010 on Windows 7 PCs (desktop and laptop). Anything entered lately on the iPhone or iPad is out of sync with my desktop (and obviously SkyDrive). At this point I'm having to compare versions on at least three of these platforms to see what's not been synced over the course of the past week or so. If this continues, goodbye SkyDrive and OneNote apps.

OneNote on Windows is a very useful and reliable tool. However, when I'm reduced to manually syncing after the above unreliable and sustained behavior, I now am dubious on its usefulness elsewhere.

Microsoft: A solution is needed. Work arounds won't cut it.


I was able to resolve this on both devices by opening Settings, selecting the entry for OneNote and turning on Reset Application. When I then opened OneNote, I needed to enter my username and password. Syncing was restored.

I assume a recent OneNote App update affected something regarding signing in or syncing.
