Indeed I am waiting impatiently for the answer to the question. Additionally I'd like to know whether in the web version of Outlook I can import all my archived folders and sub-folders that are there in the pst file in my PC

Hi Pheon,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I would need more information on the issue:

Are you trying to configure the email account in Outlook or are you tying to access web-mail account?

Who is your email service provider?

If you are trying to configure the email account in Outlook then refer the link mentioned which explains how to configure internet email account in Outlook:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2758902/en-us

If you are trying to login to web-mail account, browse to Email Service Providers (ESP) login page and enter your email address and password. You may also contact your Email Service Provider to web-address.

Example: If you have a outlook.com account the in the Internet address bar type; http://www.outlook.com

I hope the above suggestion helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.

Hi,

As I understand you want to import the archived PST files into web-mail account.

I would need more information on the issue:

Have you configured the web-mail account in Outlook? If yes, then what is the account type?

If you have IMAP, EAS or Exchange account configured in Outlook then you may copy and paste the data from Archived PST file to appropriate folder in Outlook data file for the particular email account so that the data will be synchronized with web-mail.

Note: If you have a IMAP account only the email folders will be synchronized and the contacts and calendar folders will not be synchronized with web-mail hence you may have to manually import the contacts and calendar items from Archived PST file to web-mail.

Regarding importing the data directly from Archived folder to web-mail account:

Regarding importing the data to web-mail you may have to contact Email Service Provider to check what formats are supported to import the data into web-mail and how to import the data into web-mail. Once you get to know the formats supported in web-mail to import the data, export Archived PST file in that format and then import the data into web-mail.

Refer to the link mentioned which explains how to export the data in Outlook:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/export-items-to-an-outlook-data-file-pst-HA102809683.aspx

Note: Under Step 3 in the above mentioned link instead of selecting Outlook Data File select the appropriate format supported by web-mail.

Thank you.

Hello Anula,

As for my problem, to clarify further, I have installed office 365 home premium on my PC, with my email provider account ( *** Email address is removed for privacy ***) no problem with outlook there. But when I go to My Office  while I can see my documents in. skydrive and create documents in word, excel etc. I do not see how I can access Outlook as it is not there. Going to my hotmail account via outlook.com, which is different from my office 365 sign in account, does not solve the problem as the "outlook" there is related to my hotmail account. Frustratingly, when I try to sign in via outlook.com with my office 36 t account, it gives the message that I am already signed in in my office 365 account. Signing out, then signing in, as is suggested, does not help!

When I am on my home PC it does not matter as the outlook on it is accessible. But my basic question reformulated is: When I am travelling and wish to go to outlook from say a hotel PC, how do I go there? Earlier, I could always go to outlook.com, sign in with my email provider account account (not my hotmail account) and access my outlook mail?

Thanks for helping out,
Suman

Thanks for your feedback.

I managed finally to find the link to my webmail at https://amxprd0111.outlook.com/owa/?exsvurl=1&realm=enpcmbaparis.com so now I can consult my inbox on webmail!

I have also followed your instructions - thanks for this - to successfully create an IMAP account in Outlook with the configuration provided by my email provider, so "webmail modwel" also shows in outlook

I now have two questions:

- do I have to copy and paste each folder and subfolder from Outlook to webmail? I have numerous folders,, and subfolders within the folders. Is there no way to copy all and paste them in one operation?

- secondly, if subsequently some modifications are made in any Outlook folder (e.g. adding new messages, deleting others) then would these changes be automatically synchronised and reflected in the corresponding webmail folder or there are some steps that I have to take every time?

Thanks in advance for your  help.

SModwel

Hi Suman,

Thank you for the reply.

I would need more information on the issue:

1. How many emails accounts are configured in Outlook and what are the types of email account configured (POP, IMAP, EAS or Exchange)?

2. How many data files are open in Outlook?

3. Where do you see the folders and subfolder? In which data file (under IMAP account data file or other Outlook data file)?

1.

If you are trying to move the data from Archived PST file to Outlook data file for IMAP account then you may copy and paste the data to Outlook data file for IMAP account so that the data will be synchronized with web-mail.

2.

If you have configured the email account as IMAP account then any changes you do on our Outlook data file for IMAP account in Outlook will be reflected on webmail and vice-versa. Hence adding or deleting emails from a folder in Outlook should be reflected on webmail if you have configured the email account as IMAP account and are modifying the right Outlook data file.

If possible provide us the screenshots of the issue. Follow the steps mentioned to upload a screenshot:

1. Click on Add Image as shown in the picture:

2. Browse to the location where the screenshot is saved and click on Upload:

Hi Anula,

Some responses to your questions:

1. How many emails accounts are configured in Outlook and what are the types of email account configured (POP, IMAP, EAS or Exchange)?

Two POP (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***: *** Email address is removed for privacy ***; and now one IMAP using enpcmbaparis.com configuration (the enpc.fr incoming messsages are also received in the enpcmbaparis inbox)

2. How many data files are open in Outlook? Thus, as noted above, there are three

3. Where do you see the folders and subfolder? In which data file (under IMAP account data file or other Outlook data file)?

All the folders and subfolders are in the Outlook.pst file associated with the enpcmbaparis acccount. And as adivised by you I tried to copy and paste some folders (see screenshot SS3) to the IMAP *** Email address is removed for privacy *** folders, and stopped on realising that it would be an arduous job copying and pasting all the various folders (see SS1 and SS2 as one scrolls down) and posed the questions in my previous messsage

1.

If you are trying to move the data from Archived PST file to Outlook data file for IMAP account then you may copy and paste the data to Outlook data file for IMAP account so that the data will be synchronized with web-mail.

The archived backup.pst file is not in use - it is just literally a backup file on my PC that I do off and on as a precaution

This is the crucial point! If I copy any Outlook folder to IMAP  e.g EMBA7 as you can see from SC3, then it does get reflected in webmail. But meanwhile if I subsequently modify the original EMBA7 folder in the Outlook folder with additions, deletions, then apparently these changes are not automatically reflected in the mirror IMAP folder, and hence not in webmail. That was my question.

If possible provide us the screenshots of the issue. Follow the steps mentioned to upload a screenshot:

Three screen shots are attached as one scrolls down all the folders. As you will see from SS3, there are also apparently some conflicts and problemss in sycnchronising the folderss when I right click the IMAP folder. Any help here too would be appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt and dedicated attention.

Suman
