Outlook 2016 "create appointment with shortcut from email" not working

I try to right click and pull email from inbox over the calendar icon to get the create appointment from email menu - which shows as in in office 2013. But if I select "Copy here as appointment with shortcut" the new appointment shows the correct Email subject - but the body is empty. In Office 2013 the Appointment body showed the email text body.

Is this another issue with Office 2016 or anybody has a solution please?

Kind regards

Matt

Hello,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

When testing in Outlook 2016, we find that the body is empty and there is no email added as shortcut.

However, we need more information from your end. Let us know the following:

  1. Let us know what is the type of email account you have setup in Outlook 2016 from which you are trying to right-click on an email and drag it to the Calendar to create an appointment with shortcut? For example POP3 (also listed as POP/SMTP), IMAP, Exchange Active Sync (EAS) or Microsoft Exchange. To check the type of email account configured in Outlook 2016 click on File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings drop-down. EAS account refers to Hotmail.com, Outlook.com or Live.com email accounts.
  2. In case you have more than one email accounts check if this issue happens with the other email account/s also.

Check the above and let us know the result.

Thank you.

Dear Mohan,

Thanks for your fast reply.

I'm using POP3 email accounts and I see for all of them the same behavior (empty appointment body) - no shortcut to the original mail in the inbox (or any other mail subfolder).

Since I use this feature quite a lot, it would be very good if there would be a solution soon.

kind regards

Matthias

Dear Microsoft team

just following up on above issue.

Did you find a solution and when approximately will it be available?

Received today an office 2016 update - but non of my issues reported in this community have been addressed...

Would appreciate your feedback

Hi Junseuk

I actually found a quick workaround by accident - maybe working also for you till Microsoft wakes up?

I think this is a bug.

If you pulled that email as a shortcut into the outlook calendar and your appointment is formatted as HTML - you don't see anything in the appointment body. If you now change the format to text or rich text - the email shortcut appears in the appointment body - even if you change back to HTML afterwards - it will be visible...

Hope this helps

regards

Matt

Thanks so much.

I can't understand why MS does not fix it yet.

Drag and drop with right mouse click, the shortcut manu is also disabled.

Your solution is so helpful!!

change to reach text and then go back to html, the shortcut link is appeared.
