How can we bring back ClearType for Office 2013?

Fonts on Word 2013/W8 looks horrible. Is there any reason why Microsoft decided to change the API? OK, change the API but introduce a new one that works. This one clearly doesn't.
I heard that it is due to the fact that Cleartype supposedly would not work on a tablet because it require the same vertical orientation.
Well, I have a new FullHD ultrabook and I work 100% of the time in the same traditional landscape orientation. Why should I give up a perfectly-working cleartype rendering? Please explain me why.
So, does anyone knows a workaround to resurrect cleartype rendering for Office2013?

Answer
Somehow the issue sort of get to a solution. Toggling in various combination between "disable hardware acceleration" and "smooth..." the Word 2013 rendering of fonts definitely improved.
