YouTube video will not embed into Powerpoint 2013

I've tried to embed a Youtube video into a slide in PPT 2013 many times unsuccessfully.  I am receiving the error message that I need to download latest version of flash.  I tried to modify the embed code (as suggested from an extensive Google search) from the YouTube clip by removing the 'version=' and 'amp' but that is not working.

Has anyone been able to successfully embed a code to play a YouTube video?  If so, could you help me understand?

Hi All,

We have been hard at work to bring back support for YouTube videos to PowerPoint. We are happy to share that we are now bringing back support for inserting and playing back YouTube videos in PowerPoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2013 with the latest updates.

In order to be ready you need to install the following updates listed for your PowerPoint:
