Q: PowerPoint 2013 Very Unresponsive on Windows 7 SP1 64bit Laptop This thread is locked from future replies

Running Office 2013 on a Windows 7 SP1 64bit Laptop with a quad core i7 @ 1.73GHz, 8GB RAM and NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M videocard. I'm getting extremely slow response when scrolling through or selecting a slide, and slides take a long time to draw. Generally overall slow response to any input in PowerPoint. I have not experienced anything like this in any other Office app. I've searched around and seen suggestions to disable hardware accelleration but this does not seem to help at all (even after reboot). Any recommendations?

Some people seem to have this kind of problem when there are large images on the slide master(s).   Would that fit your situation?

No, just a small logo in the corner. I should mention that I have recently upgraded to 2013. I still have access to my old laptop with PowerPoint 2010, and the same file has none of the same issues I'm seeing in 2013. I was shocked (and sadened) when I opened it in 2010 today and all images loaded instantly and working with the file was effortless.

Can you post a small version of the presentation somewhere we can access it and have a look?  Dropbox, skydrive, your web site ...?

same here. upgraded to 2013 and having major problems with even small powerpoint presentations. on another computer with 2010 not a single problem. can open and edit instantly, but ppnt 2013 freezes, hangs, stops responidng and is just worthless. not a single problem before i upgraded from 2010 to 2013. also, not very happy about all the error messages I often get when opening word files. I will see if I can get my money back because I am now spending more time to do simple work.

Not sure about your Word issues, but for PPT maybe try installing a default printer driver locally and setting it as the default printer.

It's a long shot, but this used to resolve a bunch of issues with PPT 2007 and 2010 with display and lags. Figure it's worth a shot, at least. Here are instrux for installing a test printer driver: http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00952_How_to_install_a_TEST_printer_driver.htm
