Hi Zardoc,
Glad you asked. Let me help you in formatting the area code when you enter the phone number information for a contact in Outlook 2013.
If you type the phone number directly in the Business or Home field, it will not format the area code. But you can format the area code by using the ‘Check Phone Number’ option.
Open the contact for which you want to add the phone number > click on the Business or Home button > in the Check Phone Number dialog box, type in the area code and the local number in the respective fields > click OK.
Let us know if you need further information. We’ll be glad to help.
Hello Anoop,
First of all, thanks for your input.
The thing that I can't figure out is that I never had to do this in the past with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2010.
My area code is indicated in my telephony. All I had to do is type 5555555 and it would by default format to (555) 555-5555 (My area code is set to 555 in telephony settings) .
Now if I try your method and set the area code, here is what I get:
+2 (555) 5555555. Now, not only do I have a country code (Canada should be +1 but I don't want the country code) that is not valid, but I also don't have a split between the first 3 numbres which should look like (555) 555-5555.
I cleared the telephony settings and tried to create a phone entry in Outlook 2013. Usually a dialog box will appear asking me to set country and area code. I'm not getting that dialog box.
What is wrong with Oulook 2013?
Things should be simpler not more complicated no?
Thanks.
