Cannot drag and drop emails to calendar date

Hi.

In Outlook 2010 I often drag and drop emails to a certain date in the calendar to-do pane. In Outlook 2013 I am not able to do that. How come?

Thanks!

They removed the feature :(

You can drag to the Calendar label or button but will need to set the date.

Any clue why they removed this smart feature?

Because only a small % used it and they wanted to simplify the interface by removing little-used options.  The peeks reduced functionality in a number of ways and I'm hoping the functionality will be restored. The peeks are useless as is.

Hi,

Because only a small % used it

but MS did not ask the users. And unfortunately, most users do not allow MS to collect statistical data.
I hope for the next version...

Have a nice weekend,
Lisa

I don't know who to believe.   Please help me understand the below post:

"The drag and drop feature in Outlook 2007&2010 is one of my most used productivity tools. Drag your email to the calendar and a new ..."

about the LARGE % of users.   (Seen below)  I'm one of those and would certainly like it back.   The ability to reduce button clicks was a huge factor when using this option.

Please do help me understand.   For example.    Reading email in window pane .. you find that someone wants to meet with you.    You drag the email into the day ... up comes a window .. put in a time and click.

Try to do this now?  Do count the number of clicks.

Keep in mind 20 complaints in the forums is not representative of the number of users.  I miss it too, but its would only be helpful if the peeks are pinned - so for now, I just drop on the Calendar in the folder bar (either the icon or the word Calendar) and type a date - i use the shortcuts like 2d, 1w so entering the date doesn't add a lot of extra work.

Thanks, Diane, for the "workaround" though.

Keep in mind that most users won't take the time to log in and say something, especially given that a MS/Live account is required.  Is MS active in this forum?  They need to be, the users have a voice and they would like MS to reply, as humans, no TecnhoLatin, just plain old human to human speek.

This is a TERRIBLE move.  Dragging and dropping an email onto the calendar is something I do at least 3-5 times a week.  At the very least, add a ribbon button or context menu option to move to the calendar.  In fact, at this point we should have Google calendar/Smart Phone calendar logic that can automatically detect dates, even written in full English, and give the option to turn that into a calendar item.

For what it's worth, I am another who uses this powerful, intuitive feature of Outlook all the time. It's the one feature I have often cited to friends as a key reason I have used Outlook for many years.

I create calendar appointments from emails daily.  I taught over 250 people in my organization to use this feature.  The current workaround for Outlook 2013 is more steps than we had to use in 2007 to accomplish the same task.

I hope this feature is re-added in the future.
