OneNote has stopped working message 10 seconds after launching application

I've been using OneNote2013 for a month now on new Lenovo Helix.

Out of the blue, the message OneNote has stopped working appears after launching the application without being able to processes or navigate at all.

I've tried repairing Office 365, which did not work.

Any thoughts on how to resolve?

Sounds like a corrupted Onenote cache.

Delete the cache (this will implicitely close all your notebooks open in Onenote) by

Run "onenote.exe /safeboot"

Then you have to re-open your notebooks. This re-builds the cache.

Hi Bernd,

I have been having the same problem for several days with my OneNote 2016 with Windows 10 system. I have tried deleting the cache as you suggested above, but then the problem pop up again when i run OneNote. What should i do? I really need this for uni.

The "usual other tip" is REPAIR.

I have been using ON- 2016 (PC) for months without problem.  Suddenly "stopped working".  Did run the /safeboot.   While reloading notebooks (I have 16), ON will stop working and restart.  Then will really stop working and NOT restart; will suggest "delete cache".

Hi,

Any recent changes made on your PC prior to this? To help resolve your concern, let's run the Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT) on your PC. Perform a scan on your OneNote application and once finished, a Solution and Description will be provided.
