Word 2010 Save As PDF not embedding Adobe opentype fonts

When attempting to save a Word 2010 file as a PDF, Adobe opentype fonts are not embedded in the PDF and are either substituted with Adobe Sans MM or bitmapped.

I have deleted the font cache, redownloaded and reinstalled the font set from Adobe, and tried every combination of save settings I can find. Printing to the Adobe PDF printer works fine, but I need to prepare templates for users without Acrobat installed.

Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me insane.
Answer
Answer
OpenType fonts can be embedded as long as they use the TrueType file format.
The font must support font embedding and be licensed appropriately.
