Are Master Documents safe in Word 2010?

Using Word 2010 under Vista Ultimate

First tiime back for me in years but I have heard over the years that Master Documents corrupt files. Thus, do not use them.

Does this condition continue in Word 2010?

I have 80,000 words in 9 files currently in a Nota Bene program that I will transfer to Word.

What's the best way to keep the 9 files separate for editing purposes but consolidate them as a book for formatting and printing purposes?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

The master document function is still the same as in earlier versions - prone to document corruptionhttp://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/WhyMasterDocsCorrupt.htm

Word can handle huge documents as a single file and that is the best way to handle the issue. You may consider usinghttp://www.gmayor.com/Boiler.htm to integrate them for the purpose of formatting and printing.
