Unable to link past email messages in BCM

I am using Office 2010 with Business Contact Manager and I am a new user of the latter. I run Window 7 (64bit), Office is 32-bit. I am using a Dutch language vesrion, so maybe my references to certain menu items are not 100% correct.

Starting to play with BCM I was unable to link my aloder messages automatically to a business contact. I used the backstage, File/Link and Track button. It first gives me an error message saying something like "Your action could not be completed by BCM, please try again."
