google calendar sync with Outlook 2010 error

I'm using Outlook 2010 on my WinXP Pro,sp3 machine.  I use Google Calendar Sync 0.9.4.1 to sync with my phone.

Whenever the two-way sync occurs (automatically, every hour), the process advances to 99% then I get an error message from Outlook: Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I choose the button for "What data does this report contain?" and get this:   appname: outlook.exe  appver: 14.0.6109.5005  appstamp: 4e79b881 modname: google.calendarsync.dll  modver: 0.9.4.1 modstamp: 4d9f0466  fdebug: 0  offset: 00083208

I choose the button for "view the contents of this report" and get this:  Exception information code:0xc0000417  flags: 0x00000001 record: 0x000000000000000

address: 0x00000000097d3208 .................................................well you get the picture -- it goes on for about 300 more pages of data that look like the Matrix

After I close the original error notification, the sync completes successfully.

Any thoughts on how I can get these two popular programs to play better together?

To fix the probvlem:

In XP go to the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Google\Google Calendar Sync\”

In Vista or 7, go to the directory:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Google Calendar Sync\

1) rename the data_files directory to data_files.old
2) create a new directory named data_files
3) restart gcal sync - you'll be prompted to enter your username and
pw again. Make sure you know these.
4) synchronize

Worked for me after months of this problem
