Hi, I have tried literally dozens of times over several days and hours repeating the steps to change the registry and each time I get the same error specifying yet another file to change permissions on. This is ridiculous. Why, if I am the administrator, when installing office, do I not get permission to change my own registry? This seems to be a Windows operating system fault. Also, why won't windows allow me to select multiple or all registry files to give permissions to at once instead of one at a time?
Initially, I had installed Office 2010 Home and Student as an "upgrade" from Office 97 and all went fine. However, while away from home, and without my 2010 install disc, I had a problem with my computer while away studying for my MBA which caused me to need to reinstall my software. Everything else reinstalled just fine and I attempted to reinstall office on a 3 month trial from the Microsoft site, just to hold me over until I got home and even that would not work. When I returned home, I tried to reinstall office 2010 with my disc to no avail.
I am at my witts end. I have tried every applicable solution out there including the so-called fix-it .exe files. This has me seriously considering making the switch to Apple. I am so aggravated by this. I spent $149 on the software and it will not load!
I appreciate any solution you can give me.
Below is the warning I get:
"Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 encountered an error during setup.
