Auto-updating Linked data between excel and powerpoint

Let's try the following and verify the result;

1) Create a chart in Excel and copy it.
2) Use Paste Special option and paste the copied chart into PowerPoint with data link.
3) Click on File > Info > select Automatic for Update option > Close.
4) Now save the PowerPoint and Excel files and close them.
5) Re-open Excel file, make any changes and save it.
6) Re-open PowerPoint presentation and check if you're prompted to update links.

Thank you for your response, as it did help.

I am curious to see if it is possible to have the presentation run on a loop and have the graphs update when the excel data changes. The powerpoint would be open on one computer while the excel file is on another. The two files will be in a shared folder between the computers.

Can the update occur when the slide is in presentation? Can it be automatic with changing information on the excel file?

Can anyone help me with these questions?

It is not possible to simultaneously view the updated changes when PowerPoint presentation is already running.
