Files that should be backed up

My compter people constantly make changes to our systems and installed software.  This sometimes causes customizations to be lost.

I have backed up my Normal.dotm file to my home directory, but was wondering what other Word files might be beneficial to backup.

Thanks in advance

Kelli

To the extent you can, store your customizations somewhere other than normal.dotm. Many customizations can be stored in other templates which are then loaded in your computer by putting them in your Word Startup folder.

You may want to look at http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/FilesToBackup.htm and http://word.mvps.org/faqs/Customization/WhatTemplatesStore.htm.

I back up such files before I make any major changes as well as periodically. I keep numbered archival versions, but that is probably over the top.

Any file that, if lost, would cause you much time and effort to re-create.
